US 22 Accident

Community Ambulance, Newton Township and the South Zanesville Fire Department responded to the scene of an accident just after 10 a.m. on Friday. According to Trooper Samuel Hendricks of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Zanesville woman was pulling out of a hair salon when she failed to stop and struck a car on Maysville Pike.

Trooper Hendricks explained, "Marlene Parish from Zanesville, Ohio was pulling out of the Studio 22 Salon and it looked like it might have been a medical issue where she fell asleep an coasted down the hill to US 22 and was struck by a Ford Escort traveling westbound on US 22."

81-year-old Marlene Parish and 76-year-old Robert J. Rovey of Roseville were taken to Genesis Good Samaritan.

"They both had to have a neck brace. Ms. Parish had to be cut out of the vehicle to protect her neck and keep her pretty much stabilized. She was extracted from the vehicle. Other than that, they both were conscious, but ms. Parish did lose consciousness for a few minutes."

Trooper Hendricks says a nurse who was across the street came over to assist Parish while they waited for EMS. The accident remains under investigation.
