Grand Opening of the Muskingum County Fair

The 167th Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair opened on Sunday with a grand ceremony.

Members of the Muskingum County Fair Board and community leaders opened the fair with the national anthem and a tribute to Vicki Reed who was a 4H youth educator in the area, and touched the lives of many.  Reed died in May after working over 30 years for the Ohio State Extension Agency.

President of the Fair Board said immense planning goes into the festivities.

"It just takes an awful lot of people to put this fair together. To open up like today it takes 5,000 people to open it so that's the pie bakers, the exhibitors, 4H kids. It's a tremendous event," said Darrel Cubbison.

The fair board started planning this year's fair the day after the event last year and some of their musical performances reflect the board's hard work.

" Florida Georgia is coming here and Colt 4 on Thursday night, that's big. We're sold out, but we are asking people to come on out and enjoy the music and the show," said Cubbison.

At the fair there will be fried foods, contests, rides and games. Admission is $9 per person.
