The Muskingum County Commissioners sat down with the county treasurer to discuss investments for the month of August.
Muskingum County Treasurer, Carol Friel says that changes in investments have been stagnant as of late.
"Well there are no changes, really it's not improving so we are probably going to have to adjust our budget as far as what we planned on earning on interest, so well just have to make an adjustment, " said Friel.
The commissioners added that they will likely decrease their annual projection rates from $500,000 to $375,000. Friel says she is always looking for new ways to invest money.
" We have some items that are maturing and we really want to find the best place to put that money. I'm meeting with our investment person and we are going to see what we can do because we are always trying to make the money work for the county," said Friel.
Friel says that changes in the economy have led investments to suffer. More people are saving their money and are reluctant to receiving loans.
