Cars, semi's and wreckage were scattered around the back of the fairgrounds on Saturday for a Firefighter's Training Day.
This was the first year for the training exercise. A-1 Towing partnered with Zanesville , Dresden, Washington and Falls Township Fire Departments for the day long educational program.
"We are all working together with these heavy road rigs," said Zanesville Fire Department Lieutenant, Rodger Hobson. "Showing them how we can stabilize those vehicles, keep the people inside safe, keep our workers safe, and how quick we can get these intestates to open back up. "
If accidents on the highway are not cleared properly, it can cause dangers for other vehicles on the road.
"What happens is on an interstate crash if we stop that traffic it goes back 2,3,4,5 miles. You're going to end up with more potential accidents, " said Hobson.
Both Pine Tree and West Fall Towing assisted with the training by providing their equipment for the day. The firefighters say they enjoyed spending time with other departments and hope to continue the training annually.
