Hole In One

A local golf tournament doled out large prizes to players and charities in the area.

In mid August, the 5th annual, Keith Shrider Golf Tournament took place at Green Valley Golf Course. The 94 participants played for big wins and on Wednesday, the lucky golfer who hit a hole in one claimed his prize.

"I think there is 16 holes worth $ 10,000 and one worth $50,000 said Winner," John Roberts. I was lucky enough to hit on number six at Green Valley and won $10,000. "

Roberts says he will split a portion of the money with friends while the rest will go to his wife. The organizer of the golf tournament, Keith Shrider also gave a portion of the funds raised to local charities close to his heart, including Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

"The money is very important," said Big Brothers, Big Sisters Executive Director, Mollie Crooks. It helps us process the new mentors and train them and do background checks in order to get them matched with children, and then to provide that match support afterwards."

Both the Animal Shelter of Muskingum County and Big Brothers Big Sister's received a $1,000 check from Shrider. He says organizations like these improve the community and they have his continued support.
