The 21st annual Helen Purcell Lunch with the Asters was Friday at the Zanesville Country Club. Every year, the home's development council throws the luncheon to raise money for the home and amenities for it's residents. Co-chair Geraldine Zylinsky said over the past 21 years, over $185,000 has been raised from the annual luncheon.
"We have a silent auction with donations from many of our friends of Helen Purcell as well as just people that we do business with and we have a raffle," said Zylinsky. "Community bank donates $500 every year and we raffle that off to the winner."
The event also featured local models during the "style show," which features local stores. Delsie Zahn is another co-chair for the event and said it takes the whole organization to plan an event like this.
"We just appreciate the community supporting the event," said Zahn. "It seems like a wonderful fall event for the ladies in our area and everyone is welcome. We do as Gerry commented, we do get the word out with invitations but everyone is very welcome."
