A Utica man is being held in connection to the death of a two-year-old girl.
24-year-old Daniel Hall is being held on an arrest warrant for the criminal complaint of murder. The Licking County Sheriff's Office said that Licking Memorial Hospital notified Children's Services of an unresponsive female child that was brought into the emergency room.
The child was airlifted to Children's Hospital and the Licking County Sheriff's Office was called. Authorities said that at Children's Hospital they met the mother of the child Melissa Swetnam and her live in boyfriend Daniel Hall.
Hall admitted he was giving the children a bath when the two-year-old started crying and wouldn't stop. Hall told officials he shook the child, which lost consciousness.
Officials said the child died Thursday morning as a result of the injuries.
At the time of the incident the mother was at work. No other children were injured.
Hall is being held on a $500,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 10 at 3pm.
