Every year the Animal Shelter Society helps find homes for animals left in their care.
Taking care of the animals and running program like spaying and neutering can tax the budget. To help raise money for the local non-profit they'll host the "Paws for Pigskin" auction at Ohio University/Zane State Campus Center on Saturday.
If helping out the animals isn't enough incentive to bring you out. The auction items might do the trick.
"Chef Bill Bird is doing a dinner for 12 where he comes to your house and it's really a gourmet kind of thing that he does. If you know Bill he does a great job. If you know Bill he does a great job," said Animal Shelter Executive Director. "Barnes advertising donated a billboard. We just have lots of unsual items this year."
This year the shelter will also present their Animal Guardian Angel Award.
"We have hundreds of volunteers and lots of people that come individually and groups and things and it's so important for us that the board decided last year to kind of find the person that really stood out for the past year," said Murray.
The award will be to a local junior girl scout troop. Murray said the girls did several projects for the shelter. If you would like to attend to auction the silent auction starts at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m.
There is still space available to reserve your table or buy tickets. Those interested should contact the Animal Shelter. Tickets will also be available at the door for $25.
