An annual luncheon took place on Friday to raise money for victims of domestic violence.
Transitions Incorporated, a local women's shelter hosted their 9th annual luncheon and silent auction at the Zanesville Country Club. More than a 100 attendees participated in the silent auction that featured a few very personal items.
"We also have a painted picture that has been painted by one of the women who has been in our shelter,"said Director, Patti Smith. Hobby Lobby framed it for us and she has offered that up for auction as well. "
This year, Transitions is expected to raise more than $ 8,000 that will go towards maintaining the shelter and its eight residents.
"We are a duplex so we have double utilities, so when we get the electric billing we get two, and when we get the gas billing we get two, so this kind of funding helps us do all of that. "
During the event, keynote speaker Karen S. Days of the Center for Family Safety and Healing in Columbus encouraged the crowd and spoke out against domestic violence.
