Annual Organ Spectacular Concert

Locals got a chance to hear musical selections composed by Bach, Beethoven and a variety of contemporary artists all for free at an annual concert on Sunday.

The Central Trinity United Methodist Church hosted it's 17th annual Organ Spectacular that featured, Musician, James McLaughlin and a few of his friends.

"I've been an educator for my whole life," said McLaughlin. I taught school for more than 32 years, and I've been in the music business here at the church for 54 years. I am always trying to encourage people and the best way to encourage is to educate them on what's going on. "

McLaughlin played on their remodeled E.M. Skinner organ. Although the concert was free and open to the public , church members often give donations to support a particular cause every year.

"This year, with the flooding in Colorado, we thought we would send money to some families we know there that have lost everything, " said McLaughlin.

The United Methodist Commission on Relief (UMCOR) will use the funds provided by the church to support families in rebuilding their lives after the Red Cross and FEMA are finished with their preliminary work.
