A local funeral home makes sure those in need have a turkey filled Thanksgiving.
Funeral Directors Ty Dierkes and Paige Wagner led a parade of employees holding the holiday staple as they loaded up a Christ's Table truck with fifteen birds. Each bird represents a funeral home employee or staff member.
"We like to give back to our community as best we can," explained Funeral Director Ty Dierkes. "The community has been very good to us, taking car of us all these years so we wanted to take care of them."
Funeral Director Paige Wagner added, "We do try and give back to the community as much as we possibly can. We are in other service organizations, Kiwanis, Daybreak Rotary and Sertoma. This was one that given the time of the year we felt we could help with."
As a surprise to Christ's Table's Executive Director the funeral home also presented a $250.00 check. Their hope was it could be used to purchase all the trimmings that also go along with Thanksgiving.
"The employees realize that Thanksgiving is more than just turkey," said Christ's Table Executive Director Keely Warden. "That check will go into buying the things that we need to make it a full Thanksgiving Dinner. We want to thank them for that."
The funeral home hopes to make the turkey donations a yearly event.
