Visions of magical toy soldiers, sugar plum fairies and mischievous mice danced across the stage at this year's performance of the Nutcracker.
For more than 25 years, members of the East Central Ohio Dance Theater have brought the ballet alive for residence of Zanesville at Secrest Auditorium.
"This is a great learning experience for the children the camaraderie and the friendships that they make and also just the amazing dance lessons and experience of being in the public eye has been great for them and for the community because they is so much local talent here people are very surprised by the quality of show they see, "said ECODT President, Juliet Barnhart.
The casts has over 100 members and starts practicing in early October to prepare. Barnhart says that the variety of artists and performers in the play make the Nutcracker a must see for audiences every year.
" We have age groups from four up to adults and some have many years of dance experience and some have just the minimal and some theatrical people and of course we have our guest artists," said Barnhart.
This year Barnhart says they sold more than 600 tickets and hope to see the community out for next year's performance.
