Zaneville's Public Safety Director hopes to have South Sixth Street open to traffic by the end of the week.
Fred Buck says the Sunday morning fire that destroyed a historic building posed a threat to firefighters after it was discovered the flames had burnt straight from the first floor to the roof in the back of the building. There was no salvaging the crumbling structure and therefore the decision was made to demolish it. It has not been safe for travelers to be on the road but after the building is leveled, traffic will resume.
Buck says at least one lane should be opened by Friday.
