If one of your New Year's Resolutions is to be more financially stable then the United Way has two new programs that could benefit you.

The United Way says that learning about spending and saving money can be difficult to understand and taunting for beginners, but their new program " the Financial Flash Mob" aims to make it fun, quick and easy.

"We got a group of volunteers together and we came up with this group of ten things that everyone need to know about money. That's the first module, the other module is the basics about student loans, what everyone needs to know whether they are getting ready to go to college or they are in college or of they are just graduating college. What they need to know about student loans, " said Impact Coordinator, Amy Davis.

Davis says the program is targeted to help people set goals with their money and plan ahead. She says another program that will be beneficial in the upcoming months is their tax filing clinic through the United Way Financial Stability Partnership.

" We file state and federal tax returns absolutely free of charge for individuals who qualify. We have trained volunteers who will sit down with with clients and enter their information into the computer and file it for individuals making less than $ 60,000 a year who have the basic tax returns. They don't have the big self employment or lots of investments and stocks and bonds and that sort of thing," said Davis.

Interested community members can dial 211 for more information about the program and to see if they are eligible to apply. You can also visit their website at www.unitedwaymcm.org
