Snow plow crews have been busy clearing roads and have been working around the clock to get the job done. City of Zanesville's acting service director, Chip Saunders, said crews are working 12 hour shifts to plow and salt the roads.
"With this amount of snow, obviously one of he important things for us is we're not only plowing the main drags, we're trying to get all the catch basins open so we can get the water flowing to the catch basins because we've got concerns with ice coming tonight," said Saunders.
Saunders said the next step will be to clear the side streets, starting with the hills. He asks that drivers keep their distance from the snow plows and other city equipment.
"The final thing is just be patient. We have allocated all the forces that we have to hit this and it just take some to attack a weather event like this."
Saunders also asks that if possible, do not park on the street, and if you're shoveling, please do not throw the snow back into the street.
