*A WINTER STORM WARNING remains in effect, for Muskingum, Morgan, Guernsey, Tuscarawas, Coshocton, Knox, Licking, Perry and Fairfield Counties, through Wednesday morning.* *An ICE STORM WARNING remains in effect, for Hocking County, through Wednesday morning.* *A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY remains in effect for, Noble County, through Wednesday morning.* *A FLOOD WATCH remains in effect, for Morgan, Noble and Guernsey Counties, through Wednesday morning.* DISCUSSION: The snow that has been falling heavily across the area will gradually begin to mix with and change to freezing rain and sleet. Eventually even some plain rain will begin to impact areas south and east of Zanesville. Areas north of west will remain below freezing. These areas will remain an icy mix. After lowering our snowfall amounts today because the models shifted to the west, we went back to our original forecast. The radar has really filled in on Tuesday evening and the precipitation was convective. There were even reports of thunder snow near Columbus. Snowfall rates have been 1-3 inches per hour. The heaviest snowfall will be north and west of Zanesville where 6-9 inches are possible. This includes Northwest Licking, Knox and Northwest Coshocton Counties. Much of the area, including Lancaster, New Lexington, Zanesville and Cambridge, will receive 3-6 inches. Areas well south and east of Zanesville will receive 1-3 inches due to more mixing there. Less than 1 inch of snow can be expected near the Ohio River. There is also going to be close to 1/4 inch of ice accumulation across parts of the area. Stay up to date by downloading our mobile apps.
