After months of rehearsal, a new show has finally opened it's curtains to the public.
On Friday, February 7th, the Zanesville Community Theatre debuted their newest play, A Little Princess. The story of how a girl, Sara Crewe, played by Emma Gross, uses her imagination to overcome adversity and bring happiness to those around her.
"She is very rich in the beginning. She lived in India her whole life and she has to tell stories all the time. She has to make up stories all the time. She goes to Miss Michims boarding school in England because her father has to go to war and she's treated like a little princess because she's so rich," said Gross.
After a family tragedy, Sara's once privileged life takes a sharp turn and she has to learn how to cope with the changes. Also gracing the stage with Emma are many other local actors ranging in age from 3 to 18. The directors of the play say they couldn't have asked for a better cast and crew.
"They've done a phenomenal job. They really have, they know their lines they know their parts, they've become their characters," said Director Val Gahagan.
"Every single cast member. I couldn't even pick out a favorite or tell you which one I thought worked harder. Every single person has put so much work into it even behind the scenes," added Director Angel Palmer.
A Little Princess will be performed at the theatre on Findlay Avenue through February 16th.
