Authorities believe alcohol may have caused a crash that sends one to the hospital.

The Cambridge Police Department said the crash took place just before 5 a.m. Sunday. According to the police report Shannon Dubois was driving his vehicle when he failed to slow for the turn on South 9th Street and Carlisle Avenue.

His vehicle traveled over an embankment and over the side of the hill, falling around 150 feet down. He was able to climb out of the car.

Cambridge Police Officer Ashton Baker said Dubois told officials on scene he had been drinking prior to the crash and was actually the car's passenger in the vehicle, but no evidence of another person was found and evidence showed Dubois was the driver.

Dubois was taken to South Eastern Ohio Regional Medical Center and then flown to Grant Medical Center where he's in stable condition.

Blood results were requested and charges are pending the results.
