Early voting for the May primary starts this Saturday for military and oversees voters. For other voters, you can cast your ballot early starting on April 1 and can do so by stopping by the Muskingum County Board of Elections.

"If you're wanting to vote for the two major parties, that's Democrat or Republican, and if you're wanting to vote for the minor parties, it's the Green or the Libertarians," said Chris Hamill, Director of the Muskingum County Board of Elections. "If you do not wish to have any candidates at all on your ballot, you will ask for issues only."

Hamill says voters wanting to request an application for an absentee ballot can go online or contact the board of elections. Hamill says this year's primary has several contested races for republicans including county commissioner, auditor and the juvenile probate judge.

"We also have two school levies that will be on the ballot, that's for Franklin and Zanesville. We have one village income tax and that's for the Village of New Concord and we have one village for current expenses and it's the Village of Philo, and also four township levies and they are all for fire protection."

For a complete list of who is on the ballot or if you have questions, you can go online to www.boe.muskingumcounty.org.
