AAA employees will be at the Community Health Fair next weekend offering free car seat checks. AAA Public Relations Manager, Kimberly Schwind says it's actually not that uncommon for a child's car seat to be installed wrong.
"People really don't realize car seats and booster seats, if they're properly installed, can reduce a child's risk of injury in a crash by up to 82%," Schwind explained. "But more than three-fourths of car seats are not installed correctly."
Schwind says 15 certified AAA employees will be on hand to check if your child's car seat is installed correctly.
"It's free and really it just gives you that good piece of mind. There's really a lot of things that you may not think about with your car seat and you may think that it's installed properly, but you really honestly never know until you can get it checked because there are a lot of moving parts and components with these car seats."
The Community Health Fair takes place April 4-5 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Colony Square Mall. The free car seat checks will be in the parking lot closest to Buffalo Wild Wings only on Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
