A Zanesville home is destroyed in an afternoon fire at 103 Amazon Hill Rd.
Zanesville Fire Department officials say around 1 p.m. on Monday, they received a call of smoke coming from the roof of the home.Officials say the damage is severe and the house is most likely a total loss.
" There are a couple of rooms pretty heavily damaged and damage up in the roof and well into the attic. It's pretty light simple construction and it wasn't a real solid home to begin with, " said ZFD Assistant Chief, Dave Huey.
There was no one home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported. The fire department will investigate possible causes of the blaze including information given to them by the Zanesville Police Department.
" I do not have the owners name yet, but this is passed on by the police department that the occupants, the renters had been told to be out by today," said Huey.
Assistant Chief Huey says that most of the family's belongings were out of the home and the fire remains under investigation. The Zanesville Fire Department and police department were on the scene along with community ambulance.
