Two Motorcycle Crashes On Sunday

With the sunshine and mild temperatures, several motorcyclists were out today. Two motorcycle accidents occurred locally.

Earlier this morning, a two vehicle accident occurred at 369 Main St. in Duncan Falls. The driver of the car, 31 year old John Mahon of Philo was stopped, waiting to turn into a private drive. The driver of the motorcycle, 64 year old Ronald Mercer failed to stop and struck the rear of the vehicle. He was ejected from his bike. He was transported to Genesis.Trooper Archer of the Zanesville Post, Ohio State Highway Patrol, reported that the extent of his injuries looked to be cuts to his head. He was was conscious and talking.

Another accident around 1:40 PM this afternoon occurred South of Cutler Lake on Poverty Ridge Road. A 2013 Suzuki motorcycle headed south bound on Poverty drove off the left side of the road and struck a natural gas line. The valve was immediately shut off. Both riders were ejected.

The driver, 53 year old Richard Weingart was transported to Good Sam. The passenger, a 17 year old female was flown to OSU. Trooper Lanning of the Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Patrol was on scene and believes their injuries are non life threatening.
