Local celebrities are bracing themselves to take a pie in the face this Thursday, all for a good cause.
Christ's Table is hosting their third annual Pie in the Face fundraiser as a part of Operation Feed. Fifteen local food pantries and four hot meal programs receive support through Operation Feed, and as a result, over one million meals were served last year in the Muskingum County Hunger Network. Christ's Table Executive Director Keely Warden said the Pie in the Face campaign is a fun way to celebrate the program's success.
"In celebration, there have been a few local celebrities that have agreed to take a pie in the face, and we encourage people to come down and watch the pie in the face," Warden said. "Also, we are going to have a food stand on the square that people can come down and have lunch, watch the pie in the face, and celebrate together."
Eighteen area celebrities sold tickets for the chance to throw a pie in their face with all the money going to benefit Operation Feed. WHIZ's own A.C. Carter and Nichole Hannahs will be among those being pied along with a host of others.
"We're going to have Mayor Tilton there," Warden said. "We're also going to have the sheriff there. We're going to have somebody from the police department, the fire department, and yours truly again this year will be taking a pie in the face."
The event will take place at noon this Thursday at Courthouse Square. Lunch will be available for a donation, and the Zanesville Fire Department will also have a truck on hand to collect donations of canned food.
