Nearly 20 area dignitaries were pied in the face to raise money for the operation feed campaign hosted by Christ's Table on Thursday.
For the third year community members had the chance to pie a "celebrity" of their choice in the face by donating funds to the good cause. There were many well known faces participating including Muskingum County sheriff Matt Lutz.
Operation feed is a great event. I was a chairman for it for the past two years and they called this year and the have 18 celebrities so to speak to come down and I think it was just 18 people who were willing to take a pie in the face," said Sheriff Lutz.
The money and food raised by the fundraiser will go towards stocking the 15 local food pantries in our area as well as four hot meal programs that are a part of the Muskingum County Hunger Network. Mayor Jeff Tilton says he whole heartedly supports the cause.
"I am just humbled by it, it's just a great day to help people out so i'll take a lemon pie anytime for that, " said Mayor Tilton.
Last year more than a million meals were served as a result of this program. WHIZ's Nichole Hannahs and AC Carter both participated in the festivities.
