Day Camp

With summer comes camp season for many area children, and the Muskingum Family YMCA wants to make sure your kids have a fun camp experience.

The Y is offering Summer Day Camp which is available for anyone entering grades Kindergarten through eight.  Executive Director Jeff Radde said the campers will have no shortage of events to enjoy.

"We divide the kids up with age appropriate activities," Radde said.  "We do swimming, crafts, art projects, a lot of sports. We do a walking fitness program. Our older kids, they actually volunteer. They go to the animal shelter house and Adams Lane Care Center and volunteer their time there. We also do a reading program over at the college and use their library."

In addition to the day camp, Radde said the YMCA is also offering STEAM Camp this summer.  STEAM is open to any Zanesville student in grades six to eight.

"It stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics," Radde said.  "This is a collaboration between the YMCA and the Muskingum County Community Foundation."

While STEAM is offered for free, the day camp costs $85 per week for members and $105 per week for non-members.  Breakfast, snacks, and lunch are included for the campers.  Plenty of spots are still available, and if you would like to learn more about either of the camps, you can do so by visiting the Muskingum Family YMCA website at http://www.mcmfy.org/.
