The Muskingum County Commissioners accepted three bids Thursday for a water supply expansion project for the Northwest Water System.

The river crossing will service the county's west end customers where water is currently purchased from the city.

"This is actually a connecting, underneath the river, to our water system on the east end to the west end customers," said Commissioner Jim Porter.

The bids ranged from $1,465,952 on the low end to $1,618,987 on the high end.  All bids came in under the engineer's estimate of $1,630,000.

"We took the bids under advisement," Porter said.  "The engineer will take all three bids back, go over them with a fine tooth comb, and tell us the best and cheapest bid. We'll go on his recommendation."

Two of the bids came from Ohio companies in Dresden and Belpre.  The third bid was out of Quincy, Kentucky.
