Shannon Kenitz has shared her message about hyperbaric oxygen therapy with the likes of Oprah and Montel, and now she is bringing that message to Zanesville.
She serves as the Executive Director of the International Hyperbaric Association. The process of H-BOT is described as getting into a submarine-like capsule for about an hour and a half where room oxygen is pressurized into your body. Shannon Coconis with the Autism Association of Southeast Ohio said the therapy has a wide range of benefits for a wide range of disorders.
"She is coming to speak about hyperbaric oxygen therapy and all of the amazing benefits you can get from it for lots of disorders from strokes, concussions, autism, CP, MS, down syndrome, and mitochondrial disease," Coconis said. "And she's going to be speaking about that here. Her daughter was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease very young, and she credits hyperbaric oxygen therapy to saving her life."
Coconis's son suffers from autism, and they began H-BOT treatment on him around six year ago. Coconis said there is no denying the results.
"After we did it, we saw huge gains in cognition, impulse control, overall health, and calmness of him improved," she said.
If you'd like to hear the speech from Kenitz to learn more about H-BOT, it will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Zanesville-Muskingum Welcome Center. Admission is free.
