The state says two schools in the Zanesville area need to improve. They have been identified as failing to meet the Federal Achievement Requirements set by the Ohio Department of Education. Museum curators say the living history homestead could attract many visitors during the holiday season, so they agreed to keep the doors open and won't shut them until Dec. 31. A Gaysport landmark burned to the ground, earlier this morning. Wayne Township Fire Department received a phone call from clerks at Green Acres gas station and convenience store around 5:30 a.m. --shortly after clerks opened the store and noticed flames in the office area. Cassandra McDonald performed a special concert Sunday afternoon at the St. James Episcopal Church in downtown Zanesville, entitled "Centuries of Hope." The concert was a medley of 19th, 20th, and 21st century songs that through the ages have evoked joy in mankind and hope for the future. The hour-long concert featured music in German, French and Italian. McDonald recently was awarded the Vocal Arts Net Award. She is the first vocalist to recieve such an honor.
