Now that it is the first Sunday after “The Passion of the Christ” came out, how is the movie selling in church?

Father Jordan McConway of St. Thomas Church saw the movie and says he thinks the movie has made people talk more about religion then ever before.

He also says that although the movie is violent, it shows the reality of the time Jesus lived.

Today was a sure sign spring is right around the corner and Zane Landing, Riverside Park, and Kidzville were perfect examples of that.

People were outside running, playing, soccer and even boating!

Even though tomorrow marks the first day of March, we still have three more weeks of winter.

Zanesville Teens spent the last 30 hours not eating…but the reason was for a good cause.

The youth group at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church is just one of the many groups participating in the nationwide mission.

It is the fourth annual 30 hour fast designed to get youths involved in raising awareness and money to fight hunger overseas through service projects like picking up trash.

It’s reported to be the largest of it’s type in Ohio.

The fifteenth annual Perry County eight ball tournament held at the American Legion was kicked off this afternoon with tournaments running all day.

Over one hundred people were expected to play in the tournament.

The event isn’t all fun and games; it’s for a good cause too.

The American Legion 40&8 Vets also make a donation from the money raised to a local charity.

The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office reports an afternoon accident in which 41-year-old Daniel H. Brillhart of Coshocton was med-flighted to OSU Medical Center.

According to Sheriff Tim Rogers, the accident happened shortly before 4:30 on County Road 16…it appears Brillhart’s car went off the right side of the roadway while rounding a curve. The car eventually overturned.

Two years of trial delays for a Columbus area man accused of killing a Muskingum County Sheriff came to an end today.

It was an apologetic day for 29-year old Henry Hager of Grove City who escaped the death penalty by agreeing to a plea bargain to a 3-judge panel.

The panel was composed of Muskingum County Common Pleas Judge Mark Fleegle and Franklin County Common Pleas Judges Dan Hogan and David Cain who sentenced Hager to life in prison without parole.

This morning legislators gathered at the Eaglesticks Inn and Golf Club to discuss ways to create new job opportunities in Southeastern Ohio.

In attendance were State Senator Joy Padgett of the 20th Senate District and State Representative Jim Aslanides of the 94th House District. In addition over 200 members of the business community and local government were also there.

Today the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps (B.C.M.H.) got a special donation from the Muskingum County Senior Fund Raising Board here in Zanesville.

The Senior Fund presented the B.C.M.H. with a cash gift of the $1000. The Seniors held a large benefit dance on February 18th to help raise the money.

“Well we seen the need and we was talking to the nurses and we thought we could help by raising the funds for them,” said Dale Tom, a fund raising board member....

It took over $30, 000 gallons of water to extinguish a fire in Norwich Wednesday night.

The New Concord Fire Department is still cleaning up after a fire demolished a home at 590 Sundale Avenue.

New Concord Fire Chief Brent Gates says the homeowners James and Jean Bash were lucky to escape with their lives. Jean Bash was transported to OSU Medical Center and is in stable condition.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Columbus area man accused of killing a Muskingum County sheriff’s deputy two years ago will appear before a three-judge panel in Zanesville Friday.

29-year-old Henry Hager of Grove City has struck a deal with prosecutors to escape the death penalty in the death of deputy Robert Tanner two years ago.
