A Coshocton man is facing an attempted murder charge in connection with a double shooting earlier this week. The Coshocton county sheriff’s office says that 18-year-old Michael Shane is facing one count of attempted murder. He’s being charged in connection with the shooting that happened Monday morning at 505 Chestnut street in Coshocton. A Columbus eye surgeon who admitted performing laser surgery while drunk has been suspended by the state medical board. Doctor Vikas Jain also admitted in a consent agreement he signed that he pleaded guilty to a drunk driving charge in June of 2000. The consent decree also discloses that Jain, of the Boomberg Eye Center with offices in Newark and Columbus, was kicked off an airliner in August of 2001 because of drunkenness and disruptive behavior. The Golden Buckeye card prescription drug program has been delayed. Governor Bob Taft says he would like 90 percent of Ohio’s pharmacies to participate in the program. But without two of Ohio’s largest chains the state can’t reach that goal. Muskingum county Center for Seniors executive director Terry Dunn says with the two chains declining to participate the state can’t reach its goal. Right now it stands at 65 percent. A sex offender who moved to Muskingum county and never registered with the sheriff’s department will be spending the next ten months behind bars. His trial was supposed to start later this week, but Monday Michael Martin III changed his plea from not guilty to guilty. Martin pleaded guilty to one count of reckless homicide with a gun specification, one count of involuntary manslaughter with a gun specification and one count of discharging a firearm over a public road. The Coshocton county sheriff’s office is investigating a double shooting. It happened just after 1:30 this morning at 505 Chestnut street. Sheriff Tim Rogers says 18-year-old Candice Darling of Coshocton and 22-year-old Joshua Barron of Dover were shot. If you live on the east side of Zanesville you might be left in the dark for part of this morning. American Electric Power has planned a power outage between 9:00 and 9:30 this morning. That means that some customers including the WHIZ stations will be without power while A-E-P crews do some maintenance. All power should be restored by 9:30 a.m.

The Ohio Super Lotto jackpot is starting to grow again. It is inching upward one million dollars at a time. The jackpot now stands at six million dollars for Wednesday’s game after there was not big winner Saturday night. There was one 100-thousand dollar winner in the Kicker game on a ticket sold in Madison, east of Cleveland.
