A project that will close State Route 60 south of Duncan Falls for the next few months is now underway.

The roadway is scheduled to re-open on September 15th. The Ohio Department of Transportation will be drilling directly into the rock and removing it. They will then use wire mesh to contain the rock wall east of the road.

The entire road is closed due to the narrow route. The workers will need the entire road to work to avoid being pinned between falling rock and moving traffic...

The Lynch family of Duncan Falls is hosting their 3rd annual benefit to raise money for their daughter, Callista Lynch who suffers from Spina Bifida.

Spina Bifida is a condition that causes nerves to form outside of the back. This leads to nerve damage. The money will go toward making their home handicap accessible. The Mid-East Career and Technology Centers has hired a new Superintendent for the upcoming school year.

Thomas Perkins has been working in the education system for 18 years now. He is currently the Superintendent at Northern Local School District in Perry County. Perkins says he is looking forward to learning the most when he begins his new position.

The Zanesville area has received over an inch of rain in the last 24 hours, and with those heavy rains, comes the risk of flooding.

Quick heavy downpours and extended amounts of rain tend to allow for ponding and even flash flooding on the roadways. With the Muskingum river cutting through Zanesville, there is important to be mindful of high waters. The Ohio Department of Transportation is reminding motorist that State Route 60 is closing Monday just south of Duncan Falls.
O-dot says the road will be closed in both directions for the next 60 days.  Crews will work on the eastern rock slope.  Rock will be removed and steel mesh protection installed to ensure the safety of drivers and prevent potential rock falls from entering the roadway.  The road will reopen September 15th..The recomended detour is State Route 60...

Two separate single car accidents occurred within miles of each other on Interstate 70 eastbound Sunday afternoon just east of Zanesville.

Sgt. Melanie Appleman with the Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said they received a call at 3:47 p.m. of a single car rollover accident with injuries. The accident occurred near the rest area on I-70 east of Zanesville when the female driver lost control of her Toyota minivan.

The Granville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Sunday morning that troopers will operate an OVI checkpoint to deter and intercept impaired drivers this week.

The county where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day prior to the checkpoint. The exact location will be announced the morning of the checkpoint. The patrol says if you plan to consume alcohol, you should always designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink....

The Crooksville Roseville Pottery Festival wrapped up today.

The last day featured a pie judging contest as well as a fishing tournament and the grand parade. The event also featured food vendors including a bloomin' onion stand and homemade pork rinds as well as a fish fry sponsored by Peerless Lodge. Lodge member, Keith Coffman, said that the money raised will help fund the community celebrations held annually on the 4th of July.

The annual Rock the Walk 3K was held Saturday, July 12, at Sulsburger Stadium at Zanesville High School.

Family, friends, law enforcement and community members gathered today to remember the late Lieutenant Mike Lutz.

A ceremony was held at Cornerstone Church in Duncan Falls this morning followed by a procession to the gravesite of Lutz where a gun salute and a presentation of the colors was held to memorialize the Lieutenant.
