The 49th Annual Crooksville-Roseville Pottery Festival began Thursday.

The event began at the Ohio Ceramic Museum with a plate breaking ceremony at noon today and was followed by the grounds opening at Crooksville Village Park. It’s a big day for a Morgan County Company.  Governor John Kasich was in McConnelsville for the announcement of an expansion by Miba Sinter. The company is located on State Route 60 North and is a manufacturer of auto parts. Officials from Miba were present to take part in the celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony. Governor Kasich says that the expansion of a company like this one, will bring McConnelsville jobs and the well being of families.

A newspaper in Sarasota, Florida is reporting the death of a Perry County, Ohio man and the injury of another. 

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune is reporting that 25-year-old Zachary Thomas Collins of New Lexington died in the Wednesday evening crash near Lido Beach. 

According to the paper the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission reported that four people were riding two personal watercrafts about a mile off Lido Beach when the crash occurred. The Commission said that...

New federal resources have been awarded to a fire department in Muskingum County.

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio announced Wednesday that Adamsville Community Fire Department has been awarded $22,362 for Operations and Safety by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.

The funeral for a Muskingum County Firefight who lost his battle with cancer is set for this Friday.  Rick Hunt died early Tuesday morning.  If you would like to help the family deal with this tragedy the Rick Hunt Memorial Fund has been set up at Century National Bank.  Calling hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Cornerstone Full Gospel Church in Duncan Falls.  The funeral is Friday at 11 a.m. at the church.  Hunt will be laid to rest at Memorial Park...

The State Highway Patrol had a busy weekend. The Fourth of July celebrations brought 749 arrests due to OVI's, state wide. The holiday weekend lasted from last Thursday, July 3, until Sunday July 6.

Locally there were a total of 447 citations issued including 5 OVI's and 72 seatbelt violations. Lieutenant Matt Boyd of the State Highway Patrol said they pay special attention to those unbuckled during heavy traffic.

The Zanesville Country Club will be hosting its first ever Community Junior Golf Clinic this month.

The Ohio Department of Transportation wants motorists to be aware of a major road closure set for next week.

State Route 60 will be closed in both directions about a mile south of Duncan Falls starting Monday, July 14. The closure will last until September 15.

ODOT said during this time crews will work on the eastern rock slope. Rock will be removed and steel mesh protection installed to ensure the safety of drivers and prevent potential rock falls from entering the roadway.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz has released more information regarding a boat stolen from the Zanesville Yacht Club in June that resulted in the death of two local men.

The bodies of 35-year-old Travis Krouskoupf and 24-year-old Kenny Tucker, both of Zanesville, were discovered in the Muskingum River on Friday, June 27th after the boat they were in crashed over a dam.  Several witnesses reported seeing them on the river in the stolen boat the Tuesday before.
