James “Jim” Lewis Connell, 87, of Zanesville, passed away Thursday January 28, 2010, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
Jim was born in Zanesville on March 30, 1922, to the late Charles A. and Jessie Patterson Connell. Jim was employed as a mechanic at White Chevrolet and retired from Chief Freight Lines in West Lafayette. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. Jim served his country and protected our freedom as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Stotts Connell; sister Katherine Guy of Reynoldsburg; four step-children Larry (Lyn) Stotts of Atlanta, GA, Nancy (Mike) Mohr of Zanesville, Diane (Steve) Haager of CA, and Carol (Mike) McKee of FL; nephew Tom (Susan) Guy of New Albany, OH; nieces Mindy (Chuck) Mayhew of Reynoldsburg; Missy (John) Peek of Granville, OH; and Kristie Reed of Reynoldsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Eleanor L. Steinman Connell; two infant sons; sister Louise Connell; niece Beth Ann Wynn; and seven half brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday January 31, 2010, from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 West Military Road, Zanesville, Ohio. A Military Service will be conducted by George Selsam VFW Post 1058 on Monday February 1, 2010, at 11 am at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Tom England officiating.
