Ned D. Ervin, age 84 of Gratiot, died Friday Dec. 3, 2010 at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born June 19, 1926 in Hemlock, OH and was the son of the late William B. and Anis Blitzoff Ervin.
Ned was an Army veteran of WW II and had served in the European Theatre. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 1058. He worked in the oil fields his entire life, retiring in 1988 as a field supervisor.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret “Ladyne” Kappes Ervin, whom he married May 21, 1953; daughters: Kimberly Arnold of Anniston, Alabama, and Elizabeth “Lynn” (Randy) McConnell of Nashport; a son, Doug Ervin of Gratiot; 3 grandchildren: Jason P. Bice, Dylan Gunter and Randy McConnell, Jr.; 2 great grandchildren: Kayte and Kailey Bice.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Billy and Donald Ervin.
Friends may call from 10 am to 11 am Monday December 6, 2010 at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Funeral services will follow at 11 am with Fr. Pius Pietrzyk officiating. A private burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery will be held later at the convenience of the family.
