Max Dilts, 79, of Roseville, passed away at 6:00 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at his residence after a courageous battle, surrounded by his family. He was born June 26, 1933, in Roseville, a son of the late John and Hattie Shields Dilts. He was a graduate of Roseville High School. He had worked for McCoy Pottery and then was a truck driver for Commercial Motor Freight. He was an active member in the community serving on the Roseville Fire Dept., village council and as the former acting mayor. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1979 and was past commander and lifetime member of American Legion Post #71. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, coaching little league baseball and softball and watching the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He served our country and protected our freedom by serving in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are a son, Dave Dilts of Crooksville; a daughter, Cindy Dilts-Wilson of Crooksville; three grandchildren, Tod Gottke, Jeremy and Ryan Sprankle; a sister, Donna Ransbottom of Roseville; the mother of his children, Pat Smith of Roseville; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Ted Dilts; a sister, Polly Tracy; a sister-in-law, Helen Dilts; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Tracy and Dick Ransbottom.

Friends and family may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 33 N MAIN ST., ROSEVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Marc Caton officiating. Max will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery with full military honors being provided by Roseville American Legion Post #71. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Roseville American Legion following the service.
