James “Duke” Larry Greenhill, 68, of Philo, passed away November 20, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family.
James was born October 30, 1944 in Hitchens KY the son of the late James Frank and Georgie (Rucker) Greenhill. He was the volunteer fire chief for the Man, WV volunteer fire department; he worked for the Amherst Coal Company and he retired from the Noble County Correctional Institute.
James is survived by his daughter Angie Greenhill of Philo; his step-children Gena (Steve) Stanley of Columbus, Mike (Kari) Stevens of Oregon City, OR; his brothers Frank (Trudy) Greenhill, David (Sue) Greenhill, Ronnie (Nina) Greenhill, sisters Carolyn Sue (James) Wells, Barbara (Kit) Mead; his grandchildren Matt Greenhill, Shawn Austin, Erica Austin and Dani Stevens, one great granddaughter Faith Austin and several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Ellen (Ramsey) Greenhill.
Visitations will be 5 to 8 pm Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday at the Graceland Memorial Gardens, South Ridge, WV with Rev. Kit Mead officiating.
