Willa Lorene Harper, 91, Zanesville passed away at 5:40 am Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Cedar Hill Care Center, Zanesville.

Willa was born June 17, 1921 in Conway, MO the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Nellie (Gant) Pinkley. She worked for the Beverly drive-in as a waitress and as a housekeeper and day care provider for OJ and Lorena Bagley for many years and for Darrell and Kathy Jenkins she loved their kids very much and took good care of them; She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Buffalo, MO. In her last few years she enjoyed traveling to visit her family in MO, watching her soap operas and spending time with her family and her roommate Alicia and extended family at Cedar Hill who loved and cared for her. Willa was well known for her words of wisdom speeches given at every reunion and on holidays and will be remembered by all.

Willa is survived by her children Ruth Ann (John) Huff of Lake Station, IN, Carl (Ida) Harper of Branson, MO, Barbara Gessel and Dorothy Thomas both of Zanesville; a brother Joseph (Helen) Pinkley of Olathe, KS; 13 grandchildren; several Great Grand and Great Great Grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; 3 sister in laws Dessie, Maxine and Naomi Pinkley and a brother in law George Medlin and two special people who called her grandma Donnie Thomas and Yvette Michel.

In addition to her parents, Willa is preceded in death by her husband whom she married July 22, 1944, Herschel Harper who passed away March 24, 1983; a daughter Carolyn Pinkley; six brothers Orville, John, Gail, Gordon, Herscheline, Virgil Pinkley; three sisters Geneva Medlin, Vinnie Brown and Virginia Boranian and sister in laws Dorothy and Marcie Pinkley and two special friends Betty Tigner and Lucille Snyder.

Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday, December 20 at the Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 11 am Friday. She will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Cedar Hill Care Center and the Genesis Hospice Nurses for all their love and care.
