M. Annabel Baker Norman, 98, of Zanesville, died at 5:45 P.M. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Emeritus at North Hills. She was born December 21, 1914, in Liberty Center, Ohio, a daughter of the late Henry M. and Luella Johnson Baker. Annabel had been employed by the Liberty Center Village Board of Education for 10 years, and later by the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio, for 18 years. From 1960 to 1974 she and her husband Joseph owned and operated the Burger Chef Stores of Zanesville. She was a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star Pacific Chapter #63 in Liberty Center and served as Worthy Matron in 1936, and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Muskingum Chapter #485 in Zanesville. She was also a life member of Soroptimist International of Zanesville.

Surviving are a step-daughter Berthana Ann Bernock of Clinton Twp, MI; three step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph M. Norman, whom she married May 16, 1948; four brothers; and three sisters.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, with Dr. James Miller officiating. She will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter Society: 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
