Steve Hollins' Christmas gift came nine days late.

The Zanesville sophomore hit a turn-around shot from the baseline with 2.2 seconds left to give ZHS a 65-63 win against Massillon Washington Saturday night.

It was only the fourth varsity game for the 6-4 center.

"I just seen it and I went up and got it," Hollins told WHIZ after the game. "I just threw it up there."

ZHS coach Scott Aronhalt promoted Hollins from the JV team four games into the season. The Blue Devils lost starter Jordan Aronhalt following hernia surgery in late December.

Aronhalt told WHIZ before the season that he didn't want to bring Hollins up to varsity until late in the season.

Hollins has responded with two double-doubles and now a game winning shot.

"(On the final shot) He really wanted to make the pass," Aronhalt said. "I think he recognized the time or we were yelling shoot. He was able to get the shot off and it was nothing but net."

Drake Aronhalt scored 35 points for ZHS (3-5), matching the career-high he totaled Tuesday night against Columbus West. Aronhalt scored all of Zanesville's 13 points in the third quarter against the Tigers (5-3).

The Blue Devils next play Friday night at home against Wheeling Park.
