The Muskingum softball team won, but for the first time since the middle of March, Erica Hoyt did not.
The sophomore All-American only pitched the first two innings of Muskingum's second game victory, 10-1, over Washington & Jefferson Thursday. Freshman pitcher Andrea Crow threw the final three innings of the game to collect the victory.
The sophomore All-American won her previous 25 starts. Hoyt's last loss came March 13th, a 4-0 defeat to Alma, which is currently ranked #5 in the country. Hoyt leads Division-III in wins this season with 29.
Hoyt tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout in the Muskies' (31-5) 1-0 victory against the Presidents (13-17) in game one. She recorded 11 strikeouts.
With her three punchouts in game two, Hoyt became the OAC's single-season strikeout leader with 206. Hoyt already set a Muskingum record this year, breaking her mark of 159 from last season.
