Zanesville football has a new head coach, and Dave Everson is that man. Superintendent Michael Pockl recommended Everson to the school board on Wednesday, and with a unanimous vote, the former Edison head coach became Zanesville's head man.

Everson beat out over 40 applicants. The 3 finalists included former UCinci top assistant Phil Dorn, and Edgewood head football coach Lance Hostetler.

As for Everson himself, he's been the defensive coordinator at Capital University. On the high school level, he was chosen to coach Ohio in the Ohio-West Virginia All-Star game two years ago, and led his team to victory.

Immediate plans include meeting with assistants and future players ASAP.
