FOR THE PAST FEW SEASONS, THE PHILO FOOTBALL PROGRAM HAS BEEN SEARCHING FOR AN IDENTITY. THE STEWARD OF THAT THOUGHT FOR THE PAST SEVEN SEASONS HAS BEEN PETE WOODS, A COACH THAT HAS PROVIDED EVERYTHING HE POSSIBLY COULD FOR THE KIDS IN DUNCAN FALLS - EXCEPT, UNFORTUNATELY, ENOUGH WINS. IN A LETTER SUBMITTED TO PHILO ATHLETIC DIRECTOR TERRY OHLINGER, WOODS ANNOUNCED HIS INTENTION TO RESIGN FROM HIS HEAD COACHING OBLIGATIONS AFTER SEVEN YEARS YESTERDAY. DURING HIS TIME IN PHILO, THE ELECTRICS HAVE COMPILED A 22-48 RECORD, INCLUDING A 2-8 MARK THIS YEAR. WOODS WAS A NATIONAL CHAMPION AT MARSHALL UNIVERSITY DURING HIS PLAYING CAREER AND USED HIS COLLEGE CONNECTIONS TO BRING SOME OF HIS FORMER TEAMMATES, MOST RECENTLY NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS RECEIVER TROY BROWN, TO DISCUSS WITH HIS ELECTRICS ABOUT LIFE LESSONS - NOT JUST FOOTBALL. OHLINGER TELLS WHIZ-TV THE HIRING PROCESS TO REPLACE COACH WOODS WILL SOON BEGIN.
