CO: Cameron Wolf - Solo HR; Nick Yoder - RBI Single

(COSHOCTON) - The Coshocton Post #65 Cherokees couldn't have asked for a better start to the annual Babcock Classic.  The finish though, the hosts will gladly forget.

An early home run by Coshocton's Cameron Wolf was wasted as the Cherokees struggled to fend off their rivals.  The result was a 6-2 win for Tuscarawas County.

After two outstanding defensive plays by the Panthers in the bottom of the first, the Cherokee veteran Wolf teed off on a pitch, sending it deep to right centerfield.

That 1-0 advantage would increase for the Cherokees when, in the fifth, John Brillhart and Tyler Craigo hit one out singles.  Both would advance a base on a steal, Craigo's while one of his teammates struck out.

Brillhart scored Coshocton's last run on a soft grounder to second base off the bat of Nick Yoder.

In the top of the sixth, Post #65 pulled starting pitcher Thomas Ellis, who was working on a two-hit shutout, in order to conserve his innings.  The result was anything but pleasant.

John Rice came in and retired two of the first three batters he faced.  The lone Panther to reach base got a free pass after being hit by a pitch.  Another hit batter and a walk loaded the bases, when Post #205 did its damage.

Toby Miller scored two with a single to centerfield, tying the game.  A run scored a batter later on a wild pitch; an error on a routine grounder allowed Tusky County's fourth run of the inning to score.

The Panthers added two more in the seventh inning to pick up the 6-2 win.

Coshocton (0-1 in the tournament) won't play again until Saturday, when the Cherokees take on Cambridge at 1:30 and then Hiland in the nightcap.

Tusky County plays the early game Saturday, up against Cambridge at 11:00 am.  The Panthers will conclude pool play at 4:00 pm against Hiland.
