Tri-Valley Falls Short

Division II Regional Final-- Gahanna Lincoln High School

Tri-Valley 42 Marion-Franklin 48 (OT)

It was a 15 point lead, with under three minutes to go, but it was too much time for Marion-Franklin, as they were able to score twice and force overtime against Tri-Valley and eventually win the game.

The game came down, in regulation, to a field goal attempt from Matt Amicone, that was made longer in large part to a delay of game call. After that five yard penalty, Amicone's 46 yard field goal hit the cross bar and bounced out, which forced the overtime period.

In overtime Tri-Valley got the ball to start, but Nathan Strock was intercepted, ending the Scottie drive. On Marion-Franklin's ensuing possession Corry Benson dove over the pile to win it for the Red Devils.

Benson was the reason the Red Devils were able to win their second regional title in the last three years as he threw for two touchdowns and ran for four. Marion-Franklin will advance to play Trotwood Madison.

For the Scotties, Austin Jones had another great on the ground as he ran for three touchdowns in the losing cause. Tri-Valley finishes their season at 11-2 and Region 7 Runner-up.
