Rosecrans Wins the Battle of Zanesville

The game that everyone in this city was looking forward to lived up to the hype, as Zanesville and Rosecrans gave a packed Rogge Gymnasium a fantastic game between two talented basketball teams. The Bishops got the better of the Blue Devils, handing Zanesville thier first league loss, their first road loss, and their first loss of any kind in seven games. Both teams now with indetical 10-3 records, Rosecrans improves to 8-2 in the ECOL, while Zanesville falls to 7-1.

Rosecrans drew first blood with the first two points of the contest, then watched as Zanesville went on a 9-0 run, to take a 9-6 lead into the second quarter. Zak Kirkbride was held scoreless in the first eight minutes, but was a force for the remainder of the contest. Kirkbride scored ten points in the second quarter, as Rosecrans took the lead in the that frame and never looked back. Kirkbride finished with 31 points, most of those down the stretch coming from the free throw line. Kirkbride came in shooting just 65 percent from the charity stripe, but managed to hit 12 of his 13 free throws tonight. Coming into the game, the Bishops shot just 52 percent from the field, but shot 17/21 from the line for 81 percent in the win. Aaron Parry had the first six points for Rosecrans in the first quarter and finished with 12.

The Blue Devils were led by Kade Haddox's 17 points, Thomas Wibbeler also in double figures with 10 points. Zanesville is out of conference tomorrow night against Wheeling Park at Winland Memorial Gymnasium. JV tip-off scheduled for 5 PM.

John Glenn 76 Morgan 28

Muskies make quick work of the Radiers in Morgan county. Leading the way for the MVL leaders was Zack Atkins with 21 points, followed by Tre Blevins with 14, Heath Dodson with 11 points, and Colin Linnaberry with 10. The Muskies remain perfect in league play with a 10-0 record, 11-2 overall. Morgan falls to 1-10 in the league, 1-12 overall.

New Lexington 44 Sheridan 62

Generals cruise to a win and, thanks to the Tri-Valley win, are now in sole posession of second place in the league, improving to 8-2 in the MVL. Leading the Generals was Jacob Horsely with 22 points, while Bo Reichley had ten points. Jacob Martin and Ethan Kunkler combining for 21 in the loss for the Panthers.

Tri-Valley 53 Maysville 50

Scotties get a big win in terms of the league race with a three point victory in the Panther Pound. Tri-Valley takes the rematch as both teams win the game in the opposing gym in the series this year. The Scotties move a half game ahead of Maysville in the MVL standings, improving to 8-3 in the league, while Maysville falls to 7-3 in the MVL.

Philo 52 West Muskingum 35

The Electrics leave no doubt with a decisive victory over the Tornadoes at Ankrum. Philo improves to 5-9 overall and 5-6 in the league. West still remains with one win on the year.

Coshocton 45 Claymont 27

The Redskins keep pace in the ECOL Scarlet Division with a win over the Mustangs. Brandon Taylor leading Coshocton with 16 points.

River View 58 Meadowbrook 41

The Black bears sweep the season series over the Colts, accounting for both of River View's ECOL wins this season. Meadowbrook still has yet to win a game in the league, and is 1-11 overall.

Cambridge 23 Dover 37

The Bobcats struggled from the field, shooting just 22 precent from the field in the loss to the Tornadoes. RyLee Rogers leading Cambridge in the loss with nine points.

Newcomerstown 59 Ridgewood 60

The Generals sweep the season series with the Trojans, thanks to a last second shot from Tanner Stoffer. The game winning bucket capped off a big night for Stoffer, who had 32 points in the contest. Dylan McPherson and Christian Grove both had 12 points in the General win.
