Yesterday was the first day of what the NCAA calls, "early signing period." It is a week-long opportunity for student athletes to sign with a college to not only end the stress of the recruiting process, but also secure their spot on a roster and thus far, only one area athlete has had the chance to do that. River View senior pitcher Taylor Spang signed her letter of intent this afternoon to play softball at Tiffin University, an NCAA Division II school located in northern Ohio. Spang, who was a back-to-back Division II All-Ohio Player of the Year, is expected to add pitching depth to a young and talented Dragons roster. As for River View, with Spang at the helm, they are expected to be contenders for a state title this upcoming season.
