John Glenn Girls and Maysville Boys Claim District Track Titles

Division II District Track Meet

Coming off an exciting MVL meet a week ago, the Lady Muskies and Panthers track teams carried that momentum into today's District Track Finals. The Lady Muskies were once again paced by Haley Gregory, who won all four events that she participated in and qualified for the regionals in all four events.

Gregory wasn't the only Muskie to shine though. Emily Brown won the 4x200 meter relay with her teammates Kelsey Knellinger, Taylor Fatheree, and Theresa Kuhns, and she picked up a win in the 200 meter dash. She also added a district crown to her collection with her victory in the long jump with a winning leap of 16 ft 11 inches.

In the distance races, Rheanna Wilson of John Glenn finished second in the 1600 meter run while she was able to win the 800 meter run. John Glenn wasn't the only team that had district champions. Philo saw Elizabeth Dingey win the Discus with a throw of 112 ft 11inches, and she qualified for Regionals in Shot Put by finishing fourth. Philo also saw Tayler Swingle win the 400 meter dash and her teammate Karly Burns finish fourth to advance to the Regionals.

On the boys side, Maysville didn't take first in a lot of events but overall finished high enough to win the team title for the school. Highlighted by second place finishes in the High Jump by Eli Chambers, Alex Presley in the Shot Put, and the 4x200 relay team the Panthers needed just one big victory to claim the team title. That came from their 4x400 meter relay team of Aaron Evancho, Kole Watts, Ian Lake, and Justin Wilson who won in a time of 3:33. Maysville won by nine points over host Meadowbrook to hoist the District Championship trophy.

Thought the Panthers won the boys team title, other local athletes took home individual crowns as well. In the discus Elijah Talk of Philo was a winner with a throw of 157ft 11inches, and he also took home the win in the shot put with a toss of 54ft 2inches. John Glenn's Woody Jamiel earned a championship in the 1600 meter run while Morgan's Clinton Campbell grabbed a district championship in the 300 meter hurdles.
