If you have ever watched the sport of harness racing you may think to yourself that it is an easy thing to do. I'm here to tell you that is far from the case.
At the Muskingum County Fair the drivers, trainers, and the horses all work very hard at their craft to bring excitement and fun to the fair. As part of the harness racing festivities on the first day of the fair, there was a celebrity race between myself, Brandon Hannahs of the Zanesville Times Recorder, and Rick Sabine of WYBZ.
I felt honored to represent WHIZ in the event and even had our Nichole Hannahs there to cheer us all on. Now none of us actually drove the horses because it is far to complex to learn in one afternoon. These horses train almost every day and can really run and run fast. At the end of the day none of us got hurt and it was all in good fun for the people of Muskingum County in attendance.
There was a winner declared in the race and it was the WHIZ horse that came in first. I hold the trophy proudly but would really like to thank the people at the fair for allowing us to participate and letting us have fun.
