Tri-Valley 7th grader Skye Bryan accomplished much more than just making the Great Lakes U-12 All American team; Bryan trotted home for the game-winning run that capped off an undefeated tournament for his squad.

The Great Lakes Region defeated the Midwest Region, 9-8, in 8 innings. With the bases loaded and Bryan on third, Brandon Banker was hit by a pitch, ending the game in walk-off fashion.

Tri-Valley 7th grader Skye Bryan will represent the Great Lakes Region in the United States Sports Specialty Association title game today (Monday) at 10:30 a.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.

Through three pool play games, the outfielder is hitting .600 with three singles and is splitting time between left and right field. The Great Lakes team has won all three of its pool games, outscoring opponents by a combined 28-8. Its opponent is the Midwest Region, which is also undefeated...

 When Dresden native and professional mixed martial arts fighter Mike King is in the octagon, Muskingum County is on his shoulders.

"To see the type of support that I get here is kind of fuel to get out of bed every day and continue moving forward," King said.

It was a moment that 12-year-old Skye Bryan of Nashport will never forget.

"I was excited and I jumped into my mom's hands when she woke me up at 3 o'clock in the morning," he said.

Columbus Bruins 7 Junior Pioneers 5

The Juniors fell behind early, 3-0, before adding a pair of runs in the 7th on the strength of three straight doubles.

Columbus responded with four more runs before the Juniors started chipping away in the bottom of 9th. The Juniors cut the deficit to three with the bases loaded and nobody out, but a double play took the tying run off the basepaths.

Nate Van Meter tossed 8 2/3 innings of two-hit baseball and Chase Phillips closed the door in the 9th as the Zanesville Senior Pioneers captured their second consecutive Central Ohio League title with a 4-1 victory over the Columbus Braves.

The Seniors scored two runs on wild pitches in the 4th and added two more late in the contest. Van Meter was solid on the hill, throwing 6 2/3 innings of no-hit baseball.
