Jim Burson officially became the head coach of head coaches on Sunday evening.

Burson steps in to fulfill his term as the President of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). He takes over for Towson's Pat Kennedy.

Burson coached 38 seasons at Muskingum College, stepping down in late February after winning over 540 games.

ZHS-grad Kevin Martin became a first-round NBA draft pick this past summer. Friday, he made his first trip back to Ohio when the Kings played the Cavaliers.

If the Rosecrans Boys' Basketball team scored five more points, it might have won a state championship.

Columbus Africentric, which won the D-IV state championship game over Lutheran East, may have used an ineligible player, WCMH-TV reported Friday.

Africentric believes its previous athletics director may have failed to file the proper paperwork for a transfer from Brookhaven High School, the report stated.

Jessica Davenport could win 2 Player of the Year awards.

The Ohio State center already is a finalist for the Naismith Trophy. On Thursday, she was named one of five finalists for the Wooden Award, to be presented in a nationally-televised event on April 9.

Davenport has already won the Big Ten Player of the Year and is a first-team All-American. During the year, she became the first Lady Buckeye to ever record a triple double. She averaged over 19 points and just under...

-The Bishops were down 5-0 entering the third inning. Then wildness took over. Rosecrans took the lead without recording an out or getting a hit. In fact, the team only had 2 hits in the entire 13-run inning. Miller was forced to use 4 pitchers to get through the third. Jerod Yakubik went 3-3 with 3 RBI and 2 SB. As a team, the Bishops stole 10 bases for the game.

Maurice Clarett might get drafted, after all.

The former Ohio State running back held a private workout at an indoor facility near his hometown of Warren. Bengals and Browns assistants conducted running back drills, while other team representatives observed.

Clarett improved on his February NFL Combine times in the 40-yard dash by running a 4.67 and a 4.68. He had run 4.72 and 4.87 a few months ago.

The Broncos acquired their fourth former Cleveland lineman Wednesday, trading for Ebenezer Ekuban and Michael Myers. The Browns receive 1,000-yard rusher Ruben Droughns.

Zanesville native Jay Payton returned to Boston's lineup Wednesday.

Payton was hit by a pitch on his right hand last week by Baltimore's Daniel Cabrera. Two X-Rays, one at the Florida ballpark and at a local hospital, showed no broken bones.

Payton went 0-2 as the Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 6-4.

Boston opens the regular season Sunday night against the NY Yankees.

Former Cleveland defensive end Courtney Brown will sign with the Denver Broncos, ESPN.com reports. Financial details were not available.

Brown has only recorded 17 sacks since Cleveland drafted him number one overall in 2000. He has missed 33 games with knee, ankle, neck, biceps and foot injuries.

The Browns, who would have owed Brown $8 million this year, cut the defensive end March 14. They hoped to re-sign him to a smaller deal.
